An estimated 40% of the United States population, have foot problems. Of all patients aged over 50 years, 2.5% report degenerative arthritis of the great toe joint, termed ‘hallux rigidus’. Great joint osteoarthritis, hallux rigidus is the most common arthritic condition in the foot. Our goal is to improve the standards applied and to bring comfort and quick recovery to millions of people.
UltraToe is the Great Toe Joint Replacement Implant that has been designed and built to garner the confidence of colleagues for Great Toe Joint implantation, and bring that forward to be on par with the very successful Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. UltraToe employs the same well known and established materials, design concepts, considerations for a total joint replacement, on-growth stimulating coatings and dedicated instrumentation proven by time to be successful at other sites.
We wish to further develop UltraToe and fabricate enough implant sets to perform Clinical Trials at major University hospitals. Clinical Trials are a means of establishing that an implant is safe, effective and readily reproducible for most surgeons trained.
