Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa Sullivan and I’m a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Rowan University, with a bachelor's in Journalism. I began my journey in news with internships at 6abc, FOX 29, and Fox & Friends.
Because of Miss America, I get to live out my dreams as a reporter at my news station daily. As a first-generation college student, the conversation about money is a serious matter. Scholarships awarded to me in the Miss America Organization have helped me find security in focusing full-time on my education. The Miss America Organization helped me earn more than $45,000 in scholarships and pay for my entire senior year at Rowan University-that’s not including nearly $10,000 earned in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program, plus five in-kind scholarships offered.
My Social Impact Initiative is Peer Challenge Commit2Character. Peer Pressure is at an all-time high and activities such as underage drinking, drug usage, and teen pregnancy are happening all too often. Peer Challenge Commit2Character focuses on stopping the domino effect of the risk-taking behaviors that students are inundated with, like bullying, drinking, drugs, unplanned pregnancy, and cyberbullying with character education. The program centers on eradicating the stigma of mistakes for a positive future and showing students that they’re never too far down the wrong road to turn around.
When I'm not working at my TV station, PHL17, you can find me spending time with my family and my puppy, Stella.
I’m so grateful to say that I will compete for the job of Miss America on December 16th. Thank you for supporting me on this journey!
It’s time for America’s Choice! This is your chance to have your voice heard in who you think exemplifies the qualities of Miss America as a leader, servant, and role model for young women. This year we’re offering a $5,000 scholarship to the winner to help her advance her education and achieve her life and career goals.
To vote, click your favorite candidate below to go to her page. Each dollar donated equals 1 vote, so the candidate with the most donations will win the America’s Choice scholarship. In addition to the $5,000 scholarship, she will be recognized on-stage during the Preliminary Competition at Mohegan Sun in December.
Voting has no impact on placement in the Final Night Competition. As a 501(c)4 nonprofit under IRS regulations, all donations to The Miss America Organization are not tax-deductible.
The Miss America Organization, a 501(c) (4), is one of the most recognizable household names in America working to empower young women through education and service.
