Jon Klein has dedicated the past 25 years to broadcast operations for one network with 3 names/owners - Fox Sports South, Bally SportSouth and FanDuel SportSouth. Main Street Sports Group - the current owner - has alerted employees that they will be closing the network in the next few months. After an amazing career with the network, Jon will be forced to find a new job. He is confident he will land a new job and is excited for the next chapter.
Complicating this, however, is a need for spine surgery. Jon will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks recovering from this surgery that will hopefully relieve the crippling pain he is enduring. The hope is that the surgery will not only stop the pain, but allow Jon to return to his regularly scheduled life - where he is more than capable of performing job duties, commuting to work and taking good care of himself. He says “I just want to get back to normalcy”. Jon’s attitude is incredible. For those of us who have worked with or are friends with Jon - we know he is always ready with his quick wit and a big grin:).
Jon still has health insurance coverage and the majority of the surgery is covered. There is significant out of pocket coverage and the unfortunate reality is he will not be able to look for employment during recovery. Jon’s out of pocket cost for the surgery is $2,500. He will also need temporary support at home after the surgery. We are looking to raise $5,000 to help Jon through this transition. This will cover the out of pocket and provide peace of mind for him to focus on recovery.
JQK we are cheering for you and excited to see you get beyond this surgery and into a new place of employment soon!

After getting home Jon had a little setback. The incision from his surgery became infected. Last weekend Jon had to go back under the knife to clean out the infection and get a culture. He feels great other than wanting to get back home. He is in occupational rehab center again and in very good hands. Hoping to get out by next weekend. Jon- keep on keeping on! Looking good after a shave today:)!
We broke out!:)
Jon’s surgery was a success! He’s no longer experiencing any pain. He spent a week at Emory recovering and is now receiving Occupational rehab therapy at North Fulton Wellstar- will probably be here for a week or so. Many thanks for all the thoughts and prayers! Looking forward to sending another update from the comfort of Jon’s condo as he gets back to normal. Keep the good vibes rolling!
