My name is Eve and I live in New York City. I met Hamdi and his family around 2 years ago. Our friendship has evolved and I’ve grown to love Hamdi and his beautiful family . I’m honored to be entrusted with his new campaign.
Hamdi and Shaimaa were married in 2016. They’ve known each other most of their lives - Shaimaa’s brother Mohammed and Hamdi were best friends from the time they were boys in school together.
The couple have 4 children - Kenzie (10) Maryam (8), ibrahim (5) and Baby Ahmed (7 months)
Before October 7 Hamdi was a carpenter and electrician. They had a nice house in Al Zaytoon in the North of Gaza and their lives were good and comfortable.
Since 10/7, Hamdi, Shaimaa and the children have been displaced many times. Their home was destroyed completely. They went from one UNRWA school to another and then to a tent. The family is finally living inside- in a rental in Deir Al Balah.
Tragically, on July 26th,2025 Shaimaa’s brother and Hamdi best friend, Mohammed was martyred along with his wife Jumana. They left behind 4 children - Alma (10) Malik (9) Saba (8) and Abood (5).
Under Islamic law when children lose both parents, they live with their paternal family.
Hamdi’s orphaned nieces and nephews have joined their family along with Shaimaa’s parents who are the orphan’s legal guardians.
Hamdi is now providing for 4 adults and 8 children (including a baby)- 12 people inside a small apartment. Despite it all, this family is incredibly loving- they have taken in their traumatized nieces and nephews with open arms and huge hearts.
This is where all of us come in. This family needs basic necessities (food and clean water ) medical care, money for 7 children attending school (tuition and school supplies) and rent. Hamdi and Shaimaa both have large families and they are also trying to help their brothers and sisters. Consistent donations from us will go a long way toward easing their burdens.
The orphaned children have a separate campaign to help with their expenses- the money from that campaign is handled by the children’s grandparents. Hamdi’s campaign will go toward his children’s specific expenses (medical, school tuition/supplies and basic necessities) Shaimaa and Hamdi treat all 8 children as their own so this campaign will also go toward maintaining their household.
