Please help my family. As many of you know my sister’s home was flooded by hurricane Idalia last month. A few days ago it was hit by a devastating tornado. They are lucky to be alive. The entire home is destroyed as they were directly hit with 135 MPH winds. An alarm went off at 1:47am and my sister barely had time to get my nephew into an interior bathroom where she laid on top of him in the bathtub to protect him while the roof came off over them and the ceiling began falling on top of them. My brother-in-law, Anthony, didn’t even make it to the bathroom. He was looking for the dogs to protect them. He crouched behind a couch while the roof in his living room blew off above him. Can you imagine how horrifying that must have been for everyone? This family can’t seem to catch a break between the flooding from the hurricane and the tornado. Everyone is safe, pups included. They are looking at a complete loss of their home and everything that was in it along with the loss of both cars. The roof landed on the cars. They had to wait for hours to be rescued. The safest place to hide was in the front corner of the garage. This was the only part of the house with any roof left. There was debris, downed power lines everywhere and it was unsafe to move to seek better shelter as they continued to get additional threats of more tornado’s coming their way. Can you imagine? My parents couldn’t even get to them to rescue them until 7am as there was over a mile of tornado devastation. Even though they have insurance, we are discovering there’s a lot that isn’t covered or only has partial coverage. You’d be shocked. Expenses are mounting. To make it worse on my poor family, my nephew was in a devastating car accident  in January and he suffered a traumatic brain injury. They were already struggling with medical bills for several hospitalizations over the course of two months. Anything you could do to support my amazing sister and her family would be incredibly appreciated. Life is about community and supporting those in the worst of times. Kassie and Anthony would never hesitate the jump in and help others. I’ve witnessed it many times. Please consider donating to help them rebuild their lives. Anything helps.
