Save Our 100-Year Family Home — Help My Mom Finally Retire
For 100 years, one house has been the heart of our family.
In 1924, my great-grandmother bought a modest family home. Through four generations, it became where birthdays were celebrated, holidays were shared, and loved ones always knew they had somewhere to come home to. It isn't simply property—it is our history.
When my mother’s aunt passed away, the home was inherited by an out-of-state cousin. Wanting to protect this piece of our history, my mother purchased the home with her life savings, believing she had secured our family’s legacy. Instead, she found herself fighting to save it all over again.
A Lifetime Spent Caring for Others
My mom, Gina, has devoted her entire adult life to helping people:
45+ Years in Nursing: She worked as an ICU nurse, taught the next generation as a nursing professor, and currently serves as a hospice nurse.
Family Caregiver: She cared for her own mother through dementia until the end.
Giving Back: Despite losing her only other son to gun violence in 2005 at age 21, she continues to serve others through hospice care, Buddhism practices, and volunteering with Moms Demand Action.
Why She Needs Our Help Now
After nearly 50 years of service, my mom retired. But when the property faced foreclosure due to complex inheritance financing issues, she did something no one should have to do at age 70: she went back to work.
She took on a job as a hospice nurse just to qualify for a new mortgage to buy back our family home. Now, at 70 years old, she is preparing for night shifts instead of enjoying her earned retirement. Because we are currently behind on mortgage payments, the situation is urgent.
Where Your Support Goes
Every dollar raised goes directly toward reducing the mortgage principal. Lowering this balance brings down the monthly payment so I (her son, Joseph) can take over the financial responsibility and let her retire for good.
We are structuring our campaign into immediate phases to ensure immediate safety for the home:
Phase 1 ($25,000): Catch up on past-due mortgage payments and clear immediate penalties to secure the home.
Phase 2 ($100,000): Lower the principal balance enough to significantly reduce monthly payments so I can assume the mortgage.
Phase 3 ($400,000): Completely wipe out the mortgage debt, securing the home for future generations permanently.
How You Can Help
Donate: Any amount—whether $5 or $500—directly reduces the financial burden on a woman who spent 45 years caring for others.
Share: Sharing this link on Facebook, text, or email reaches the people who can help us cross the finish line.
Thank you for helping us protect not only a home, but a century of family history.
With gratitude,
Joseph
