My name is Heath Hicks, and on February 3rd, 2026 my life changed in an instant when I suffered a stroke.
For over 37 years, I’ve worked in the electrical and instrumentation industry — building projects and solving problems through hard work and dedication. I’ve always been the person others could count on. Today, I’m the one who needs help.
The stroke has affected my speech, mobility, and daily independence. Simple things many of us take for granted — communicating clearly, using my arm, walking, driving, and returning to work — are now part of a long and challenging recovery process.
Recovery from a stroke doesn’t end when you leave the hospital. I now face ongoing expenses including:
• Physical and occupational therapy
• Speech therapy
• Medications and medical equipment
• Transportation to medical appointments
• Rehabilitation and recovery programs
• Lost income during recovery
