Our family is asking for a little help for my daughter, her husband, and their sweet baby.
After nearly 10 months of battling a severe cockroach infestation in their apartment and repeatedly asking management to fix the problem, they left for a short three-day trip to Colorado to visit family. When they returned, the infestation had become so overwhelming that they could no longer safely live there.
My daughter is an incredibly clean person, and after welcoming their newborn son, she became even more meticulous about keeping their home clean and sanitary. They lived in a four-plex, and despite their best efforts to maintain a clean home and repeatedly report the problem, the infestation continued to worsen over time.
When they returned from their trip, the apartment had become so infested that they had to leave almost everything behind, including their bed, furniture, kitchen items, and many household belongings. To protect their newborn baby and prevent bringing roaches with them, they made the heartbreaking decision to walk away from nearly everything they owned.
They are currently staying with family while they wait to move into a home at the end of September. My son-in-law works two jobs to support his family, and my daughter is a devoted new mom, caring for and nursing their baby full-time. They aren’t people who ask for help. They’ve spent the last 10 months doing everything they could to resolve this situation.
They are pursuing the appropriate legal channels, but that process will take time. Right now, they’re simply trying to replace the basic necessities needed to start over.
