My name is Ashley and I am Patrick’s sister. I’m putting this together on behalf of Patrick and Thomas. At this point it is pretty widely known (and publicly available) that someone very close to them was convicted of federal wire fraud and is serving a term in federal prison. What is less widely known, however, is how deeply the situation has impacted them. In addition to the emotional fallout, Patrick and Thomas were financially exploited in ways that left them with stolen identities, significant debt, and years of damage to repair. They have been doing everything they can to pick up the pieces on their own. But the weight of it all, coupled with their isolation in New Mexico, has left them with few resources and even fewer options.
Now, there is finally a path forward. Patrick and Thomas want to relocate back to New Hampshire, where the majority of their friends and support system is. This is more than a relocation, it is a way for them to start fresh surrounded by people who love and support them…not in a desert (literally and figuratively).
Moving is expensive, and they need help with their shorter term expenses as well. I know they have hesitated to share the full extent of what has been happening because it’s so painful and personal, but they have given me permission to do so now (tastefully, of course…dang it) out of hope that their story will resonate and that people will show up. They have literally never asked for help and I can’t think of two more deserving people. They deserve a fresh start and a chance to live their lives without the burden of someone else’s choices weighing them down.
