This January, I will step onto the Miss Gay America stage with a heart full of hope, faith, and determination. For me, this isn’t just about rhinestones and gowns—it’s about a lifelong dream and the chance to represent my community on one of the most prestigious drag stages in the world.
The road here has not been easy. Preparing for a pageant of this level takes more than passion—it takes countless hours of rehearsing, building costumes, creating music mixes, and pushing through obstacles that often feel overwhelming. It takes courage to keep going when the bills add up, when plans fall apart, and when doubt tries to creep in.
But what has carried me through is my “why.” My platform has always been the importance of access to quality healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I see firsthand how healthcare disparities affect real lives every day. Drag gives me the power to shine a light on that message in a way that is bold, beautiful, and unforgettable.
Standing on the Miss Gay America stage isn’t just about me—it’s about every queer person who has ever been told they don’t belong. It’s about the young people who see a queen fight for visibility and realize they, too, can dream bigger.
This is where I humbly ask for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward making this dream possible—costumes, travel, music, choreography, and everything it takes to be fully prepared to compete. You’re not just helping me chase a crown—you’re helping amplify a message of resilience, equity, and pride.
If you believe in drag as an art form, in healthcare as a right, and in the power of visibility to inspire change, I invite you to join me on this journey. Together, we can make this dream a reality.
Thank you for your love, your generosity, and your belief in me. I promise to give my whole heart on that stage.
With gratitude,
America Prays
