For those who may not know me well, my name is Jessee. I am 27 years old, and consider myself someone who deeply values spending quality time with friends and family, creating artwork of all kinds, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. I never imagined to be sharing a story like this, but my life changed very suddenly a couple months ago.
After several months of unexplained health issues and sickness, missed days at work and a lot of medical testing, in the month of May i received the unexpected diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma. Unfortunately, a large percentage of my lymphatic system has been affected by the disease including entering my bones; which means it has entered into stage 4. Since then my life has completely shifted from the everyday norm to solely focusing on my treatment, appointments, and doing everything I can to fight through this incredibly difficult time.
I am currently going through chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments that are expected to continue through the month of October. My care team has been incredible and have high hopes that we will beat this.
The physical toll has been difficult, but I think the emotional toll has been the biggest difficulty for not only me, but for those closest to me as well. This situation if anything has truly showed me how I am so lucky to be surrounded by such caring and wonderful individuals that have provided their time and effort to support me during this process.
While I am staying hopeful and committed to my treatment, cancer has brought on many unexpected challenges. Between time away from work, medical and transportation expenses, cost of living and gas increasing, the financial strain is becoming something I cannot handle alone.
Asking for help has always been a struggle of mine. It’s not something that comes easily to me and I’ve always been someone who tries to handle it all on my own. But I am learning that asking for and accepting help is a part of the fight too.
This fundraiser will be directly going to helping support my medical expenses, transportation, groceries, housing and general needs. Whether you are able to donate, send words of encouragement, share this page, or just keep me in your thoughts, every bit of support means more than I can express. I am extremely thankful to have such an amazing community around me, encouraging me to keep pushing onward and fight through this incredibly difficult chapter in my life.
