My name is May, I am 26 years old, and I am from Gaza. My husband, Mohammed, is 31 years old. I graduated with a degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences and had dreams of building a stable life and career.
Like so many families in Gaza, the war took everything from us. We lost our home, my job, and the life we worked so hard to build.
My family and I were forced to flee our city and are now living in a small tent erected on rented land. We pay $155 every month just to keep a roof of fabric over our heads. The tent is not fit for human life. It is infested with insects, rats, and fleas. It offers no protection from the freezing cold of winter or the unbearable heat of summer.
Today, I am in the final weeks of my pregnancy and will soon welcome my baby into this world. Instead of preparing a safe nursery and celebrating this precious moment, I live in constant fear for my unborn child. I suffer from malnutrition, low blood pressure, and anemia during my pregnancy, while struggling to access adequate food, clean water, and medical care.
Every day is a struggle. Food is scarce, water is limited, and medicines are difficult to obtain. I worry constantly about giving birth in such unsafe and unhealthy conditions. No mother should have to wonder whether her newborn will be safe from hunger, illness, insects, or rodents.
We need your help to survive. Your donations will help us:
- Pay the monthly rent for our tent ($155).
- Buy essential supplies for our newborn baby.
- Purchase food, clothing, and basic necessities.
- Cover medical expenses and medications.
- Help us move whenever displacement forces us to leave again.
- Provide a safer environment for our family during this difficult time.
Your kindness can make an enormous difference in our lives. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety, dignity, and hope for our baby's future.
Thank you for standing with us and for giving us a chance to rebuild what the war has taken away.
