🚨 CRITICAL UPDATE (August 29): Our sweet boy Daniel fought as hard as he could, but ultimately lost his battle to Panleukopenia and crossed over. Please read our latest update below for details. We still urgently need help settling his hospital bill (now $2200+) and protecting his 20 rescue brothers and sisters.

Update on Daniel & Our Urgent Outbreak Response:

It is with a completely broken heart that I share the news: after a fierce battle against Feline Panleukopenia (FPV / feline distemper) and FIV, our sweet six-year-old boy Daniel has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Despite days of intensive inpatient care, IV fluids, and strong medications at Cedar Veterinary Hospital, his depleted immune system and persistently low white blood cell count could not overcome the virus. To spare him from prolonged suffering, we made the agonizing decision to let him go.

With Daniel gone, our complete focus shifts to protecting the ~19 other indoor rescue and foster cats in our home. We are on high alert—some cats are already showing mild GI upset (vomiting and diarrhea), and we need diagnostic testing and immediate Modified-Live (MLV) vaccines to safeguard the household and get ahead of any potential spread.🚨

How Every Dollar Will Be Used ($2,500 Goal):

  • 🔸Daniel’s Emergency Hospital Invoice ($2,011.72): Directly settling Daniel’s emergency diagnostic blood panels, continuous inpatient IV therapy, injectable medications, and compassionate end-of-life care at Cedar Veterinary Hospital.

  • 🔸Modified-Live (MLV) FVRCP Vaccines (~$350): Sourcing and administering rapid-acting MLV vaccine boosters to protect all 20 exposed, asymptomatic cats.

  • 🔸Veterinary-Grade Virucides & Biosecurity Supplies (~$200–$390): Purchasing REScue (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) disinfectant concentrate, heavy-duty sprayers, puppy pads, and PPE to completely decontaminate rooms, crates, and bedding (standard household cleaners do not kill Panleukopenia).

As an independent, disabled rescuer living on a fixed SSI income without a 501(c)(3), carrying an emergency hospital bill of this size while outfitting an entire household with medical-grade biosecurity supplies is an overwhelming burden.

Every single donation—whether $5, $25, or $100—directly honors Daniel’s memory by helping us clear his medical debt and ensuring every single one of his rescue brothers and sisters stays safe and protected.

Even if you cannot donate right now, please share this link. Sharing gets this urgent story in front of more animal lovers who can help us safeguard these 19 innocent lives.

Thank you so much for your compassion, love, and support during this heartbreaking time. 🐾💔🌈🙏🏻

::ORIGINAL TEXT::

I am reaching out in the middle of every animal rescuer's worst nightmare. We are facing an urgent, life-or-death crisis and need help to stop an aggressive viral outbreak.

Our beloved indoor rescue cat, Daniel, crashed suddenly with severe fever, dehydration, and lethargy. At Cedar Veterinary Hospital, he tested positive for Feline Panleukopenia (FPV / feline distemper) alongside FIV. He is currently hospitalized receiving intensive IV fluids, injectable medications, and round-the-clock supportive care. His lab work and overnight emergency stay have already totaled just under $2,000.

Panleukopenia is an aggressive, high-mortality virus. Because Daniel lives in our home alongside ~20 other indoor rescue and foster cats, the entire household has now been directly exposed.

With individual clinic SNAP tests costing nearly $100 per cat, testing every animal is financially out of reach. If I can buy them at cost, it's closer to $40. According to shelter medicine outbreak protocols, our most urgent, effective path to saving these lives is immediate proactive herd immunity and heavy environmental decontamination.

How Every Dollar Will Be Used ($2,500 Goal):

  • Daniel’s Emergency Hospitalization (~$1,950): Directly settling Daniel's diagnostic lab panels, inpatient IV therapy, and critical stabilizing care at Cedar Veterinary Hospital.

  • Modified-Live (MLV) FVRCP Vaccines (~$350): Purchasing rapid-acting MLV vaccine doses and sterile syringes to booster all 20 exposed, asymptomatic cats within 24 to 72 hours.

  • Veterinary-Grade Virucides & Biosecurity (~$200): Securing Rescue (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) disinfectant concentrate, heavy-duty sprayers, and sanitation supplies to scrub every room, crate, and litter pan (standard household cleaners do not kill feline distemper).

As an independent, disabled rescuer living on a fixed SSI income without a 501(c)(3), shouldering an immediate $2,000+ veterinary emergency alongside colony-wide biosecurity costs is impossible without community backing.

Every single donation—whether $5, $25, or $100—gives Daniel and the other 20 cats a fighting chance to survive this outbreak.

Whether or not you are able to donate, please share this campaign. Spreading the word is just as vital to helping us reach this goal and save these lives.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, compassion, and support.🙏🏻
