A Dream Coming True
For years, it was a dream of mine to spend more time in Tolkien’s Shire hearing the tales and telling of his remarkable Hobbit characters. I had hoped that some day creatives would bring us a film or tv series doing just that. When it seemed that day may not come, I felt a jolt of inspiration and with the nudging of some amazing friends, we embarked on this journey for our very own!
Having podcasted for years with my friend and partner Ezra Kirk on An Unexpected Podcast, a radio drama seemed the perfect medium for bringing these stories to life. And in true fashion, all the friends we’ve made along the way have culminated into a full on production team- from writers, to performers, to musicians and artists!
Operating as a true adaptation of Tolkien’s works, we have 3 seasons (7 Chapters each) planned and in various stages of development.
Season One is currently in production with Chapter One available on all podcasting platforms- Chapter Two is in development and will be in post-production soon.
With so much story to tell and our project growing rapidly, we’re in need of additional equipment to keep and grow the momentum we currently feel.

WHAT’S NEEDED
Concerning Hobbits is a project of ambitious proportions and one that has an international cast and crew. Over 50% of our roles are recorded remotely and we utilize “recording packages” to facilitate our cast’s performances. Currently we have 2 recording packages that are shared amongst dozens of actors and actresses. With so much story still to tell and with such a widespread cast, our production would only be aided and benefit from an increase in the number of recording packages we can send out at once. It’s our hope that with more recording packages, episodes will be able to be produced and published at a much faster rate, allowing the beautiful story of and performances in Concerning Hobbits to be shared and enjoyed by the world!

OUR GOAL
Our goal is always to tell more of Tolkien’s stories (especially those pertaining to Hobbits) at a high level with utmost respect to his work and to release episodes in a timely manner so that these episodes can be enjoyed as one continuous tale.
The most crucial factor in reaching this goal is the Production phase. We would like to add 5 complete recording packages to our production as well as additional storage and editing tools to optimize our production.
Each recording package will include:
1 Zoom H6studio Handheld Recorder, 1 Shure SM58 Microphone, 1 6 ft XLR cable, 1 Table Top Mic Stand, 1 Zoom Carrying/Travel Case, 1 micro SDXC card, and 1 SD Card Reader.

We are also seeking to enhance Post-Production with a few tools that will empower each episode:
1 MackBook Pro 14in M5 Chip 1TB SSD, 2 2TB SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD External Hard Drives (For Raw Audio Storage), 2 Pair of Bose Quietcomfort Headphones as an upgrade for our in-person recordings at Seventh Age Studios.
Stretch Funding:
So far, all production costs have been completely out of pocket. Another expense our production incurs is shipping. We have set our target goal to allow for extra funds raised to be used for shipping these recording packages all over the world!
