As a parent to a child attending Cityview Community School in the heart of North Minneapolis, it pains me to see hardworking families facing extraordinarily difficult challenges right now. Due to increased ICE presence in our community, many families at Cityview are living in fear and uncertainty—afraid to leave their homes, go to work, seek help, or even send their children to school. For many, our classrooms are half the size they use to be due to families being fearful of their safety and their children's safety as well.
As a result, our families are struggling to meet basic needs. Parents are missing work, household income has been disrupted, and access to food, stable housing, utilities, and hygiene products has become increasingly difficult.
I am launching this fundraiser along with other parents of Cityview Community School to provide immediate, emergency support to the families in our school community who are most affected during this time.
How Funds Will Be Used
All funds raised will go directly toward essential resources for students and families, including:
-
🥫 Food assistance (groceries, meal support, emergency food supplies)
-
💡 Help with essential bills (utilities, heating, water)
-
🧼 Hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, feminine products, diapers, laundry supplies)
Support will be provided discreetly to ensure families receive help safely, respectfully, and without fear.
Why This Matters
These children are our kids' friends, classmates, teammates, and learning community. School has not been the same. We want to ensure that each family has basic needs met during this time. By supporting families during this crisis, we are helping protect our students’ physical well-being, mental health, and ability to succeed in school when able to safely return. We want families to have housing stability, food, household supplies, and all needs met. We want them to know that there is a community of parents here at Cityview who love and care for them.
Even small contributions make a real impact:
-
$25 can provide hygiene essentials for a family
-
$50 can help cover groceries during a difficult week
-
$100 can help prevent a utility shutoff or housing emergency
