As a parent to a child attending Cityview Community School in the heart of North Minneapolis, it pains me to see hardworking families facing extraordinarily difficult challenges right now. Due to increased ICE presence in our community, many families at Cityview are living in fear and uncertainty—afraid to leave their homes, go to work, seek help, or even send their children to school. For many, our classrooms are half the size they use to be due to families being fearful of their safety and their children's safety as well.
As a result, our families are struggling to meet basic needs. Parents are missing work, household income has been disrupted, and access to food, stable housing, utilities, and hygiene products has become increasingly difficult.
I am launching this fundraiser along with other parents of Cityview Community School to provide immediate, emergency support to the families in our school community who are most affected during this time.
How Funds Will Be Used
All funds raised will go directly toward essential resources for students and families, including:
  • 🥫 Food assistance (groceries, meal support, emergency food supplies)
  • 💡 Help with essential bills (utilities, heating, water)
  • 🧼 Hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, feminine products, diapers, laundry supplies)
Support will be provided discreetly to ensure families receive help safely, respectfully, and without fear.
Why This Matters
These children are our kids' friends, classmates, teammates, and learning community. School has not been the same. We want to ensure that each family has basic needs met during this time.  By supporting families during this crisis, we are helping protect our students’ physical well-being, mental health, and ability to succeed in school when able to safely return. We want families to have housing stability, food, household supplies, and all needs met. We want them to know that there is a community of parents here at Cityview who love and care for them.
Even small contributions make a real impact:
  • $25 can provide hygiene essentials for a family
  • $50 can help cover groceries during a difficult week
  • $100 can help prevent a utility shutoff or housing emergency
How You Can Help
If you are able, please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Your support sends a powerful message to our students and families: they are not alone, and their community cares.
Thank you for standing with our Superstars. Your compassion makes a difference.

Good afternoon! Just wanted to reach out to say THANK YOU to everyone who has shared, donated and passed along our fund. With your support, we have been able to continue providing food, hygiene supplies, and household items for 20 families who still remain sheltering in place for safety of their families and our Superstar students. We continue to make discrete door deliveries to our families and because of you, we have been able to consistency provide support during this unexpected crisis for the past few weeks. With the cost of food and products increasing, funding 20 families with all of their basic needs has became extremely hard. We ask that you continue to pass along our fund until all of our Superstars are safe and back in school with their teachers, friends, and Cityview family. Thank you for all you have done. Our work is not over.

Good evening! Just wanted to update you on our progress. We are almost HALF WAY to our goal thanks to all of you! I just got word that Minneapolis Public Schools has extended online learning until spring break. This means that our families need us now, more than ever. With income still being disrupted and families unable to return to work or school, the need for household items, hygiene supplies and food is continuing to grow. Please continue to share this story throughout your community. Together we can get through this tough time.

Good morning! We are almost 1/3 of the way to our goal for Cityview families. Thank you so much for your support and sharing this fundraiser within your community, families, and social groups. The HIGHEST need right now is food. Since many families are keeping their children home for safety, families are now having to provide meals that typically would be provided at school. For most, that is breakfast, lunch and snack, while also still providing dinner. These added meals for families whose income is already disrupted is creating a huge increase in request for food. We appreciate everyone for supporting and sharing. Please continue to do so. It takes a village.
