Help John Stinsman regain his life after years of fighting for his health.

Hello friends,

My name is John Stinsman. I am a professional illustrator and comic book artist who fell in love with art as a child and have pursued it as a career since I was 20 years old.

I absolutely love what I do for a living, but, as a self-employed freelancer, I have had to live my most of life without the financial ability to secure appropriate health care insurance.

I am a Type 1 diabetic who was diagnosed late in life, and, while I have been able to manage it alone to the best of my ability, complications can and do occur. As you might imagine, when things become truly complicated, my lack of access to regular healthcare is often nonexistent until they are bad enough to force me into the ER.

Such is the case at the moment.

I was recently admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, diabetic complications and a dire infection in my lung and leg (which has required the insertion of multiple tubes and minor surgery to drain) as well as a potentially life threatening blood infection (aka sepsis).

All of this requires me to stay in the hospital for a minimum of five weeks, with the possibility of an even longer stay, depending on how long it takes for my daily IV antibiotics to clear up the infections that I’m currently fighting, with the hope of no further complications.

Upon my release, I will require home care, physical therapy and follow up care, such as CT scans, more antibiotics and several doctor follow up visits, none of which will be financially covered through any other means aside from trying my best to cover them on my own, which, unfortunately, is not possible at this time.

Due to this long and unexpected stay, I am also unable cover my usual monthly bills like rent, car payments and car insurance, diabetic meds (insulin, testing supplies and needles) and so on.

This puts me in a situation where I am in danger of potentially losing everything that I have worked so hard to maintain, such as my home, car, etc on top of being unable to get the necessary follow up care for my current condition.

While my health is taking the upmost priority in my life, I am incredibly fearful of what will occur when I am finally released due to my inability to financially access the most essential life necessities.

However, with all of that being said, the good news is that many of the complications that have plagued me for years are finally being addressed and I see a very bright light at the end of the tunnel for the very first time in years.

I am more than willing to continue to fight this and do whatever is necessary to get back on my feet so that I can continue to produce art and bring the same kind of joy to others that I have experienced in my own life through the magic of art and storytelling.

After years of darkness and fear, I feel that God has brought me to a place where I can finally look forward to a life that I truly thought was close to being over.

If you are willing and capable of making a donation to my Go Fund Me, no matter how big or small, I would be eternally grateful as your donation will help to give me the new lease on life that I have been hoping and praying years for.

I want to thank everyone in advance for your time, consideration and potential donation to my future, as it would truly be a life changing gift that I have I’ll never forget.

The ability to get through this time and be healthy and productive again will only happen thanks to the generosity of others like yourself and I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you with continued health and happiness in your life.

All the very best,
 John Stinsman
