When my car's transmission failed, it felt as if my entire world came to a halt. That vehicle was more than just a way to get around, it was my lifeline. I remember the day well, driving back from Sacramento after teaching one of my dances, I was on the freeway when I heard that grinding noise. Since then, I've been patching together ways to manage daily life and getting to essential appointments with increasing difficulty. For the past five months, I've been missing crucial physical therapy sessions and other important appointments due to the cost of alternatives like Uber and Lyft, which quickly drains my resources. Public transport isn't a good option for me, (although it’s what I’ve been doing) turning simple errands into exhausting treks. I'm striving to raise $4,000 towards a used car, which would restore not just my mobility, but my sense of independence and ability to keep moving forward.
