On the afternoon of November 9, 2023, my mother, Lori bestowed upon us a legacy that transcends time-an enduring gift meant to be cherished and carried on by her descendants and all those she touched. Her valiant battle against the rare autoimmune disease, Scleroderma, epotomized unwavering strength and reslience, leaving an indelible mark on all our hearts. Our mother's legacy, is a testament to her unwavering dedication and will continue to resonate and live on through the development of this fund-The Lori Lynn Harrison Foundation.
Her life was a symphony of service, a testament of her deep-rooted commitment to both God and well being of others. Through her unyeilding dedication and tireless efforts, she became the beacon of hope and inspiration for me and my brother. Now, as the Executive Director of SHINE Society of Excellence it is my duty to ensure that my mother's name be amplified and celebrated. Through SHINE my mother's spirit of service finds new avenues to flourish, thrive and live on in her honor.
SHINE has been a nonprofit for nearly two decades and embodies transforming lives through unparalleled mentoring and tutoring services. Much like my mother, SHINE has touched lives and illuminated pathways to success.
The Lori Lynn Harrison Foundation will be committed to funding extensive research initiatives focused on Scleroderma, seeking breakthroughs and advancements in understanding and treating this rare autoimmune disease. Additionally, it aligns with SHINE's strategic vision by championing the establishment of a community center in Duquesne, PA, standing as a preventative measure, offering vital support to youth and families facing economic hardships, echoing Lori's passionate advocacy.
Now, as we carry forward her legacy, let us remember the profound importance of community, the transformative power of service and the essence of being a cheerful giver. My mother's imprint shall endure through the living memorial of this foundation, ensuring that her legacy of selflessness and stewardship continues to shine brightly, illuminating the lives of those in need.
