8-year-old Matthew and 9-year-old Adrianna are two wonderful kids at the daycare I work at. Their mother is a recovering addict and is 6 1/2 years sober. When they were toddlers, Matthew and Adrianna were put into the foster care system for 18 months until their mom got them back. From this, it left them with severe mental health problems and emotional problems as well. Including, attachment disorder, ODD, ADHD, and depression. There are also other mental health and emotional issues that are still undiagnosed as they grow and experience more harshes like their dad passing away in early June from suicide, leaving them with yet again another form of abandonment. To help both Matthew and Adrianna get through this process easier, especially while waiting for therapy and more doctor visits, an emotional support dog would greatly benefit both of them. They would gain the emotional support they need in order to thrive in life. Their mother however is allergic to dogs and they live in a small apartment, so they would need a small hypoallergenic dog like a morkie or a breed of poodle. Their mother is a single mom who is in school, working full-time, and struggling on her own. Any help to get these kids a sense of emotional support, balance, and a way of coping, would be greatly beneficial.
