Wheaton Mural Project: Origins & Legacies

Introduction:

Below is a brief synopsis of what my intent and vision is for creating public art.

“For their health and well-being, I believe people need to experience firsthand, positive, inspiring public art in prominent locations.

My large scale signature rose murals do this.

My process is that I initiate these paintings…decide on the ideal location, create the composition, acquire the permission from all parties involved, and then I start the project…in Faith that the community will support the effort…with their enthusiasm and their resources knowing with confidence that throughout the process and after completion, the art will be a source of significant community enjoyment for many years to come.”

More about the project:

I believe that all people have an innate need to be exposed to the beauty of art and the healing of nature. This elemental condition is built into our unique God given human essence. It is life affirming and sustains us to be our most complete selves and to flourish fully. My artist platform combines these two vital forces, art and nature as signature painted murals in public spaces and is a means to express and share their healing energy with all people through this transfomative visual form.

With this vision in mind, I am bringing the uplifting Art of the Rose to communities all across the country, and now this art journey has led me back to the Wheaton area, my birthplace of origin. Having explored the nuances  of downtown Wheaton many times, I am inspired more than ever by the charming setting with its historic buildings and numerous opportunities to beautify its center with world class art.

The image I am using for the mural painting will be one of my signature rose compositions with its many petals in their various expressions that seek to symbolize the diverse people of Wheaton throughout all their stages of life.

There are 8 phases of the project: development of the final composition, wall surface preparation, gridding the wall, drawing the petals onto the wall, monochromatic underpainting of the petals (this is the current stage of the project), full color palette painting of the petals and sealing the wall. This project also consists of architectual improvements to the building that are adjacent to the mural.

Patronage will produce 3 specific benefits:

Beautification of the Wheaton community for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the year.

Support of the Arts in the Wheaton community

Establish a tangible individual or family legacy wirhin the Wheaton community, past or present.

To generate resources to pay for the creation of the mural I am seeking financial sponsorship with a modest art gift extended in appreciaton to anyone who contributes to this fund.

Thank you!
