MY STORY
Where do I even begin? With my dreams? My dreams of going to college because it was crammed into me that I would be nothing without a degree? Do I start with the predatory private student loan company who mislead me? Who told me that they would work with me on payments? Should I start with the customer service rep who pretty much told me tough luck, figure it out and find the money or your cosigner is screwed? What about the "REASONABLE INTEREST RATES" that went from 9% and jumped up to 17.95% PER LOAN? So glad that Navient is such a stand up company who really strives to work with their victims.
Do I begin with how I left college due to a severe anxiety/panic disorder that crippled me to the point that I could barely leave my room? That I left college with $60000 in student loan debt that has turned into $200,000 due to the outrageous interest rates? Where do I begin?
Back in 2014 I moved to NY to take care of my grandmother full-time. I worked from home at night doing freelance data/research while she slept. Every cent I had went to trying to make loan payments. My grandmother was my world and I was hers. On October 31st of 2019 she went into the hospital and due to hospital negligence by the morning of November 7th she was gone... and so was a part of my world. The hospital killed my grandmother. Then the pandemic came busting into the world like the Kool-Aid man with a serious vendetta and everything... everything just... went to shit.
I have a difficult time asking for help.. especially when there are so many in need.. but I'm asking. I need help. I'm drowning. The fat cats are sitting in their pimped out lifeboats that are lined with the cash, blood, sweat, tears, and the hopes of all of those who they've taken advantage of. They dangle lifesavers just out of reach and hope that we just give up and sink. I desperately wish that this spotfund would take off and that it would snowball into something that can help others who have been taken advantage of by the predatory private lending practices. These douchebag predatory loan companies need to be held accountable. Not some bullshit slap on the wrist... They need to end.
