We have less than a week to take this little surrender. We are prepared with a month of food and some supplies but we need to fundraise for his eye.
As you can see, it's definitely oozing and not totally sealed. We will have to immediately pay the consult and likely follow-up care, potentially surgery if there is an internal "raisin" or stitching and red light therapy for healing etc.
Please consider helping.
Meet Boone: The 1-Month-Old Pirate Sphynx
Hi everyone,
I’d like to introduce you to Boone. He is a tiny Sphynx kitten born just last month and he came into this world with a special little surprise... Boone is what we in the rescue world call a "Pirate Birth" as he was born with one eye that has never opened.
The Situation Boone is a breeder surrender and he is coming home with me for a very specific reason. As many of you know, Sphynx cats are not like other breeds. They require specialized care, specific temperature regulation and sometimes rigorous skin maintenance. ANY Opthalmology issues (even skin issues like sunburns) can result in the loss of one or both eyes, and this guy only has one to start!
I am stepping up as his medical foster because I am the only one in our rescue crew with my own Sphynx, along with deep experience in neonatal and special needs care. I know exactly what Boone needs to thrive day-to-day, but his medical needs go beyond standard care.
Why We Need Your Help Medical fostering is a labor of love, but it is also costly. Because Boone’s eye never formed or opened correctly, he faces immediate medical risks. We need to ensure there is no infection or malformed tissue hidden in the socket that could threaten his health.
I am raising funds to get Boon immediate care, including:
-
Veterinary Ophthalmology Specialist: To assess the socket, determine if there is an eye or whether surgery is needed and ensure he isn't in pain.
-
Cardiac Screening: Sphynx cats are prone to heart issues, and given his birth defect, we need to rule out other congenital conditions.
-
Follow-Up Care: Specialist appointments require re-checks to monitor his growth and healing. Plus of course we'll be vaccinating and fixing him.
How You Can Help This little naked warrior deserves the best start in life. I have the experience to handle his daily care, but I need your help to cover the specialist bills.
Please consider donating to Boone's medical fund. Whether you can spare the cost of a coffee or more, every dollar goes directly to his specialist and medical fees.
Let’s get this little Pirate cleared for a happy, healthy life!
