Most of you all do not know but my mother has been having some health issues lately regarding her eyesight and we really need all the help and prayers that we can possibly receive.
She was previously diagnosed with cataracts stemming from an eye injury when she was in her teens. Most recently, the severity of the cataract has progressively become worse in a very short period of time and has caused her to become blind in her left eye. About a week after not being able to see from her left eye, she began feeling immense pain in her eye and had severely high blood pressure causing her to go to the hospital. The hospital in the Woodlands transported her to Downtown Houston to possibly perform surgery but were unable to do so due to the machine being down. They also tried to transport her to other hospitals to try and perform the surgery but they were all full. The only thing they could do for her at the time was to stick a needle all the way down in her left eye to relieve the pressure built up behind her eye socket and it was so painful for her. They ended up sending her home with some prescriptions and told her to follow up with an eye doctor to schedule and perform surgery elsewhere.
My Mother and Nana scheduled multiple follow-up appointments and found a doctor who could do the surgery but he is unsure if it would repair the eyesight if the lens was detached. She was told that if the lens is detached from her left eye, this would cause her to have not one but two eye surgeries in a very short period of time to try and repair her eyesight and the lens (if it is detached).
Unfortunately, we have now come across the issue of having to pay out-of-pocket the insurance deductibles and the amount it costs for the surgery center and we truly do not have all the funds to be able to do so. My grandparents have gone above and beyond trying to handle as much as they could on their own but it has become very stressful trying to find a solution to pay for the surgeries. Any amount or just lots of prayers would truly help our family in this time of need.
