Hey There World Wide Web!
My name is Tim Velsor and I am a high school art teacher in Southern Vermont trying to make a lifelong dream come true! In my case, the dream is a quirky old Volvo called the P1800ES.
I have been obsessed with this unique car since I first stumbled upon one while walking through Brooklyn almost 20 years ago. It was bright yellow, had a big glass hatch, and from the moment I saw it I was head over heels in love.
Most car nerds have a running list of dream vehicles that we could only afford if we struck it rich. My dream car isn't some toy for millionaires or a $100,000 midlife crisis machine. You can pick up an 1800ES in great condition for 30K (give or take) which is cheaper than most new cars on the market these days!
That being said, I am a father of 2 on a teacher's salary. I have long assumed that I would have to wait until retirement to make my dream a reality.
This past semester, while teaching my graphic design class, I became hyper-focused on the world of sticker making. I digitized a drawing that I had done in another class and began to color it in using Adobe Illustrator. When it was finished, I sat back to look at the result and a not-so-wild idea struck me like lightning. I wondered, "could I turn a drawing of my dream-machine into the real thing?" My students all said go for it!
That brings us into the present. I ordered my first 100 stickers and am suggesting a $3 (OBO) donation to receive one in the mail. When and if I run out, I will order more and perhaps even create some alternate versions if things go well!
The internet can be a scary, loud, and depressing at times but it can also be weird, wonderful, and borderline miraculous, The internet also loves the come-up, an underdog story, a kid with a dream!
So please donate and help me make my stickers come to life. After all, life is too short to drive boring cars!
