Restoration of Home & Heart: A Community Rally for our neighbor Debby
They say a home is a reflection of our lives, but sometimes, life becomes too heavy for one person to carry alone.
For years, Debby has been a quiet, kind presence in our neighborhood. But after the loss of her husband, the world became a much smaller and more overwhelming place. As the years passed, the "little things" around the house—a leaky pipe, a cracked shingle, a fading coat of paint—turned into mountains that she simply couldn't climb on her own.
This week, her amazing neighborhood decided that no one should have to climb those mountains alone. She contacted us to see what we could do. We went and took a look and had to jump into action
We spent the day rolling up our sleeves, clearing away the physical weight of the past few years, and starting the long process of restoring her home. But as we worked, we realized that while "sweat equity" goes a long way, there are repairs that require more than just a helping hand.
Our Goal: Safety, Comfort, and Dignity
We are raising funds to move beyond just "cleaning up" and start truly restoring. Our immediate goals for Debby’s home include:
• Critical Interior Repairs: Fixing plumbing/flooring/electrical and her kitchen from a burst pipe, to ensure her home is safe and functional.
• The Exterior Transformation: A fresh coat of paint to protect the house from the elements and—more importantly—to show Debby that her home is a place of beauty, not a source of stress.
• Essential Supplies: Professional-grade materials to ensure these repairs last for years to come.
Why it Matters:
This isn’t just about wood, nails, and paint. It’s about restoring the dignity of a woman who has given so much to those around her. It’s about showing her that "neighbor" is a verb, not just a noun. About rising and helping our senior community members stay in their homes!
When we finish that exterior paint job, we want Debby to pull into her driveway and feel a sense of peace instead of a heavy heart. To not have to worry about code enforcement or a mean neighbor complaining.
