My name is Heidi and Breast Implant Illness affected me. I want to raise awareness of the risks and health complications of breast implants. I own a pedicab business and can help spread the word about the experiences of thousands of women affected by breast implants. Fly By Pedal Cab on social media. I suffered for fifteen years with: major depression, anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, and a long list of other symptoms. Doctors never had the answer even though the answer was on every hospital intake form. Doctors have known about this illness since the 1970s, yet they are not required to inform women wanting breast implants. Doctors are not recognizing Breast Implant Illness (BII) and letting patients know what is happening to their bodies, so the patients can get their implants removed for health reasons.
I got implants at the age of twenty-three. Within five years B.I.I. started destroying me. Breast Implant Illness destroyed my happiness, my chance at having a family, my ability to function, and B.I.I. took away the prime of my life. I want to make sure that word gets out about Breast Implant Illness so that it does not happen to anyone else. Women who have implants can be informed about the “Silent Killer” that they have inside of their bodies. I have heard of women who have committed suicide due to depression or an autoimmune disease brought on by having breast implants. Many women have suffered more than I. It is time to make a change, and it is time to get real.
I had the lesser of the evils, Mentor Smooth saline implants for twenty years almost to the day. My goal is to raise money during the months of March and April. This money will help me maintain the advertising fees for the signs on my pedicab. I hope to have the money raised within two months to supply my two pedicabs with the funds to keep boobs and BII on my bikes. I would like to raise enough money to put ads on other women operated pedicab companies. I want the city of Austin to see these signs on my pedicab and hear about BII. After two months, if this campaign is successful, I would like to reach out to other women about raising money to help women remove their implants. It’s possible I could also use funds to lead the charge on changing laws about patient information concerning the negative effects of having implants.
