On Friday, 26 Sep 2025, Austin was playing basketball with his friends. It was a great evening for it and there were even people at the courts with them they didn't know...everyone enjoying a game together.
He went to make a shot and came down, landing wrong on his foot. There was immediate pain and swelling. Thanks to a kind stranger, he carried Austin from the courts to his car where his friends drove him to the hospital. They called me on the way to tell me what happened, and I met them there. I wish we got the name of the man who helped him on the courts, but thank you sir.
We got to the hospital and after xrays, CT scans, consult with on call Ortho, and an exam (and thankfully some pain medication) they discovered he broke the 4th metatarsal and cuboid bone of his left foot. They made a "Cadillac Sling" cast for him at the ER and he is supposed to follow up with Ortho.
Austin recently lost his health insurance and will now be unable to work until he can put weight on his foot. He is strictly non-weight bearing at this time. We will help him as much as possible, and he is determined to get back to work sooner rather than later. If you know my son...you know he is determined and very motivated.
We are asking for help with the medical expenses if you are able to help him. He is going to fill out forms for medical assistance, but we are not entirely sure he will be approved. Any amount you can assist him with would be most appreciated. If you can simply share, that is also most appreciated. Please pray for healing. He doesnt like to take pain medications if he can help it so this going to be a challenge for him.
Thank you on behalf of my son and our family.
