This sweet Ukrainian family needs our help! Aram and Narine arrived in the Bay Area with their young daughter in April (before the sponsorship program started). Narine made the long journey from Ukraine, through the Mexican border while 8 months pregnant! Wow! Soon after their arrival, they were taken in by a local Marin County church, where they stayed their first weeks here in the US, while charming everyone who had the privilege of meeting them. Humble, kind, hardworking, optimistic, and full of gratitude, they are beginning to successfully rebuild their lives here. Although initially resistant to agreeing to accept more donations and financial help, because they are proud and hardworking good people who very much do not want to further burden us, we finally convinced them to let us help them purchase a car. It was not easy to convince them - they really want to work and support themselves and do not want hand-outs, but unfortunately the work permits have still not arrived and they simply don't have the funds to purchase a car on their own. Through the kindness of generous friends, they've been able to secure a small apartment in the East Bay, but in order to become independent (and get to work as soon as the work permits are approved) the next step is for them to purchase a car. Please consider helping them! If we raise more money than we need for a used car and insurance, the extra money will be gifted to one of the other three families who are living in Marin County and will soon need to move into their own apartments as well. If you are interested in making a larger donation to help any of these local Ukrainian Refugee families and would like a tax deductible receipt, please contact jamicoulter@yahoo.com for information on how to do it (we are partnering with a local Ukrainian nonprofit to raise money for all four families and they have agreed to accept donations on our behalf). Thank you for your support!
