Help Megan Rebuild a Safe Life After Domestic Violence
My name is Jean, and I’m asking for your help for my dear friend, Megan.
Megan recently survived a horrific act of domestic violence that nearly took her life. Some time after leaving her abuser, he tracked her down, stalked her, and then brutally attacked her. During the assault, she was strangled until she lost consciousness multiple times and was beaten with a metal pipe. She came terrifyingly close to death.
By the grace of God, Megan survived.
But surviving the attack was only the beginning.
Megan is now facing a long and difficult road to recovery. She is living with serious physical injuries and the emotional trauma of what she endured, including severe anxiety and post-traumatic stress. She needs ongoing medical care, treatment, counseling, and time to heal.
Most urgently, Megan has escaped her abuser and is currently staying at a local domestic violence shelter. Her time there ends in just three weeks, and she is terrified of what will happen when that time is up.
She has nowhere permanent and safe to go.
Her abuser took virtually everything from her, including her identification and birth certificate. She is trying to rebuild her life from the ground up while also working to obtain the documents and resources she needs to move forward. She has also been trying to get local officials to serve a warrant for her abuser, but she has been told they are severely backed up.
This was not the first time Megan suffered serious violence at his hands. We are determined to make sure it is the last.
