**JOES FIGHT TO WALK AGAIN**
This fundraiser is for my husband, Joe Raymond. On November 1, 2020 He went to Riverside ER to have what he thought was a pinched nerve looked at. An MRI determinded that he had a slipped disk wedged very far into his nerves in his spine between his c5 and c6.It required immediate emergency surgery to prevent even more damage that  may have already occurred. We were told he needed to be secured in a neck brace to minimize movement, one wrong move and he could be a quadripelegic. We were to be immediately amboed to University of Illinois in Chicago before the Neuro Team at Riverside decided to take the case. Then they said it was too dangerous and reffered us immedicately to Carle in Urbana, IL. He was amboed that night and arrived at 8pm. He had surgery on Nov.2 which resulted in what his team of TOP surgeons called "baffling" and "we have never seen this outcome after surgery" which was, no feeling from the chest down.  including arms and hands. He couldnt hold anything or even feed himself. This was a FEAR for him, and why he never went thru surgery with his back before.
He is progressing. Slowly, but progressing. He was at Carle for 16 days and moved to one of the best, no, the BEST rehab institute in the nation, Shirley Ryan on 11/17. Thry project him to be 3 weeks there, no more than 5 weeks. but we simply do not know for SURE. Our insiurance only is covering 6 weeks of impatient. Not to mention bills that need to be paidm both medical and personal. We have been at our home for 5 years and do not want to lose it under these circumstances. We have an austistic daughter who has her own set of struggles. Any money will not be used frivously. Its for food, shelter, at home bills, medical bills, gas to and from appointments because he will have to report back to Carle because while he isfighting THIS battle, we can prepare for the rest of the surgeries he will need to repare his old injuries that the doctors ar Carle agreed to do, and he REFUSES to be cut open by multiple different teams of doctors. RIght now Carle had the surgery approved but everything else there wasnt and we were only granted a $900 off the bill of what is still being added up, according to patient services who i last talked to this morning on 11/19/2020. MOney will also go to everyday things i cant get thru insurance like things to help him get thru the day, vitamins he needs and tools and games to help his hands gain strength. THank you all for everything you have done for us. even if was to check in. We love you all. If you cant donate, please please share!
