Easton Locust has a complex medical history that includes prematurity at 30 weeks, alloimmune thrombocytopenia, grade 3 intraventricular hemorrhage, hydrocephalus with VP shunt, cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, seizure disorder, cortical visual impairment with legal blindness, and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. He also has hip dysplasia, severe scoliosis status-post spinal fusion, osteopenia, severe dysphagia with aspiration risk requiring a gastrostomy tube, chronic thrombocytopenia, chronic respiratory issues with intermittent hypoxia and prior sleep apnea, and a history of bradycardia. He is non-ambulatory and dependent for all care and continues to be followed by multiple pediatric specialists.

UPDATE Thursday 11/21/25

Easton had a rough night and is back up to needing 15 liters of oxygen. They switched him to ‘floor care’ yesterday afternoon, but that didn’t last long. He’s now ICU status again and being put back on high-flow cannula. If the cannula isn’t enough to keep his oxygen where it needs to be, they’ll move him back to BiPAP. They’re stopping his feeds again and restarting IV fluids. He’s also getting another X-ray to check for a partial lung collapse or anything else that might explain the setback. One step forward, two steps back.

💚EASTON UPDATE💚

Thursday 11/20/25

His pulmonologist just came in and said he’s looking better! He’s still on 3 liters of oxygen and IV Rocephin. His magnesium is still trending down, so he may need another infusion today. Droemer said he’ll need a few more days in the hospital. The attending just came in and said they are giving another magnesium infusion and the goal for the day is to ween off of the nasal cannula and work up to full feeds.

: Easton was admitted to Saint Francis ICU after experiencing low oxygen levels and labored breathing. He was placed on BiPAP with high oxygen settings, then transferred to Saint Francis Children’s for further care. His doctors are focusing on weaning him from the BiPAP, and they’ve started strong antibiotics for his rhino virus and double bacterial pneumonia.

  • Tuesday, 11/18/25: His oxygen settings were reduced to 95% support with 12 liters of oxygen via high-flow cannula, and his oxygen saturation (Sats) were in the low 90s. The medical team made adjustments, aiming to avoid returning to the BiPAP if possible. By the evening, he was on 60% oxygen support at 15 liters.

  • Wednesday, 11/19/25: Easton is on 8 liters of oxygen with 50% support, maintaining a 94% oxygen saturation. The medical team is working on transitioning him to a standard nasal cannula. The physician reported that his lungs are improving, with the left lung in better condition than the right. He’s continuing with chest physiotherapy (CPT) and Cough Assist. If his progress continues, there is hope he could be discharged by Sunday.
