Hi, my name is Krystal Jordan. For years now, I have had a dream of doing something to give to our community. I never really could narrow down what exactly that would be or would look like. The desire to do something has been increasing, and I have told myself that I’ll do it one day. Recently, after a friend of mine mentioned she was interested in starting a non-profit, I nearly jumped from my seat and said I've had a dream of doing the same thing. After those first conversations, it was like a fire had been lit inside of me. The only thing, though, is where to start and what this would look like. It seems most programs out there are geared more towards children—toy drives, food donations for families with children—which is a beautiful blessing. I wanted to go about doing something a bit different. So about 7:45 am this morning (11.30.2023), I thought of our senior citizens, and it hit me like a ton of brinks: Senior Light Senior Bright 2023. A Christmas gifting program for our seniors in our Hill Country communities
To gift a woman with a necklace or a gift card for a salon day would put a smile on her face and joy in her heart. A new blouse or cardigan to help her feel beautiful when she wears the new piece of clothing—can you imagine the sheer happiness she would feel in her heart?
Gifting a man could look like a new button-up shirt, comfy cardigans or shoe wear for lounging, and nice grooming items to feel fresh. Maybe some games or playing cards will get their poker game going with their fellow friends.
We are also accepting cash and gift card donations to purchase gifts to open, and donations can be anything you think would bring light and brightness to their holiday. A warm blanket, robes, house slippers or shoes, foot massager, pillows, stuffed animals, hygiene items, Christmas cards, etc.
To donate, please call or text me at 830-428-8202, and I personally will come by to pick up the items from you, either from your home or place of business, or I can meet you in town. If you have any questions, would like more information, or have ideas of your own, you would like to share them. Please call, text, or reach out to my personal email, krystalm.jordan@icloud.com
Also, we are accepting donations and sponsorships in support of filing with the Secretary of State in moving forward with curating a 501c3.
Thank you in advance for your time and for helping brighten the holiday for our seniors.
