In September of 2015 I completed IM Chattanooga and for the first time in my Ironman career all three of my children were there to watch and cheer me on! A little over a year later our lives would drastically change as my youngest daughter Carly was diagnosed with leukemia on New Years Eve 2016 at the age of 15. Throughout treatment she refused to be defined by her diagnosis. She continued to attend class and volleyball practices whenever possible. She pursued her treatment with the same determination and passion that she lived her life prior to her diagnosis. She lived by the idea that goals were made to be acheived and mountains were brought into our path to show others that they could be moved!

Unfortunately for all of us left behind, Carly lost her battle with leukemia on September 23, 2017. Her legacy has continued on through the imprint she left on so many others, and through the Carly Faye Foundation and GLO. GLO is the program that provides makeovers and photo shoots for girls that are battling cancer and is the program that Carly herself developed before she was ever even diagnosed with cancer.

The fact that this years Ironman Chattanooga race is the same weekend as the 5 year anniversary of her passing and the only race she ever saw me complete inspired me to combine my two passions. I am training for ironman again for the first time since she was diagnosed and at the same time raising money to support the Carly Faye Foundation and GLO. Please join me in helping continue Carlys legacy, and provide other girls the opportunity to feel beautiful and empowered as they battle cancer.
