Update from recipient:
I would like to give a big thank you to all of you who made a donation. Your donations made such a difference in my life. I was able to pay my rent and some of my other important bills. The fact that many of you do not even know me, yet took the time to read the information, click on the link, and donate money is something that completely warmed my heart. I would love to meet you one day and thank you in person. For those that do know meā¦.thank you! Many of you have provided emotional and financial support during this difficult time in my life, and I love you for supporting me without expecting anything in return.Ā
I havenāt started working yet, but I will start on a few projects next month, with some income coming in the latter part of June. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to get through this month and most of next month. I just started an LLC, at the suggestion and with the assistance of a great friend and community partner. I could not have paid the fees without her support. I will be working as an independent contractor, which is a bit overwhelming, but it is a way to get some income for me. I will be working as a cultural consultant, and I do have a few projects beginning soon.Ā
I am being fiscally sponsored by the Chuckanut Health Foundation, and they have been gracious enough to create a donation page for some of my projects. Some of my other projects include working with Western on a food systems project (with Latino/Latinx farm owners), a Youth Mental Health project with CHF, and a Disaster Relief project with VAMOS. They are a couple of hours a month each, but It is exciting to get back to doing the work I love and also getting a bit of income! It may take a while to get back on track with consistent income, but this is a big start. I could not have done this without your financial support. It relieved so much of my stress to pay my rent and some of my other bills.Ā
Again, thank you so much for your support. It meant everything to me.
Original description:
Right now, someone in our community who has given so much to others is in a moment of real need.Ā Asking for help doesnāt come easily for herābut right now, itās necessary.
Sheās a single mom, a tireless advocate for immigrant justice, and someone who has spent years showing upāorganizing, educating, and supporting others, often without pay.
Now sheās in a tough spot: between jobs, managing a new health diagnosis, and trying to keep up with rent, food, and basic needs without stable income or insurance.
If you know her, you know how much she gives. If you donāt, trust that sheās someone who has been quietly holding others up for a long time.
This is a moment where community support can make a tangible difference in someoneās ability to stay housed, fed, and stable.
If youāre able, please contribute. If youāre not, sharing this is just as meaningful. Any support goes a long way right now. Truly.
Thank you for being in the practice of building community and being each other's safety net during these uncertain times.Ā
