I am writing to share the sad news that my friend Adonay Canales, whom I have known for almost seven years, suddenly passed away from a heart attack. It is with a heavy heart that I reach out for your help to send his body back to his family in Honduras, where they can honor his memory.
Please see below for Adonay's story from his daugther Kimberly:
"My dad, Adonay Canales, was always a respectful family man, eager to get ahead. Here in Honduras, he worked as a bricklayer, building houses. My dad was a real fighter. He had to emigrate to the USA as an undocumented immigrant because of the lack of opportunities in Honduras. He left, and my mom stayed with my brother and me. My dad also suffered a lot in the USA due to the lack of opportunities, permits, or anything like that, but he always did his best to get ahead. You know, we never met my dad in person, only through phone calls. My dad left when I was one year old and my brother was just a few months old. He was the same age as my brother when he was in the United States—27 years. It hurts so much to know that he's gone. We told him to come back to Honduras, that we would give him something, even if it was just a little, because we are poor. But he just said he was fine there. He never told us he was suffering from anything. Honestly, this is a situation that hurt."
I am Kimberly Canales, his daughter, and we wish to honor my father’s memory and create a future that reflects the love he gave us. Your support will help cover the costs of bringing him back home and holding a memorial service, allowing us to say goodbye and celebrate his life properly.
Any contribution you can provide, big or small, will make a significant difference during this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and support.
