My name is Jomo White, and my only desire is to be a meaningful and consistent part of my son Kingston’s life. I want to have the opportunity to see him, build a relationship with him, and be present as he grows.
Unfortunately, I have not seen Kingston since approximately Halloween 2024. I remember this timeframe because the most recent photograph I have of him is from around that time.
Kingston’s mother, Nicole Muoio, and I previously lived together under the same roof and were both listed on a shared lease. After our relationship ended, I was still able to maintain contact with Kingston for a period of time. However, over time, my opportunities to see him became less frequent. What began as seeing him less often gradually became days, then weeks, then months, and eventually years without seeing him.
This situation has been extremely difficult for me emotionally. Kingston is an important part of my life, and losing regular contact with him has caused me significant emotional distress. When I realized that weeks were passing without seeing him, I became increasingly worried and concerned about what was happening.
I made numerous attempts to contact Nicole by phone. I called repeatedly and also attempted to reach her using different phone numbers, but I was unable to establish communication or obtain an explanation regarding why I was no longer able to see Kingston. Because I was unable to resolve the situation myself and was genuinely concerned, I contacted the police for assistance. After explaining the circumstances, I was informed that the matter was essentially a family court issue.
Since then, I have been served with child support documents and have continued making child support payments.
In 2025, I attempted to file my taxes and discovered that I was not listed on Kingston’s birth certificate. This was confusing and concerning to me because I have continued to have financial responsibilities related to Kingston while, at the same time, I have not been able to establish the parental rights and relationship I believe I should have with him.
Because I did not understand how to proceed, I sought legal advice and obtained an attorney to help me understand my situation and protect my interests.
During that time, Nicole contacted me and asked me to keep the matter out of court. She stated that she would drop the child support obligation if I agreed to give up my rights to Kingston.
Receiving that message was extremely painful. I felt as though I was being forced to choose between continuing to fight to be involved in Kingston’s life and giving up my rights as a parent. I have never wanted to give up my relationship with Kingston. My goal has always been to be present in his life.
While I had legal representation, Nicole also requested that my visits with Kingston be supervised. I was extremely confused and concerned by this request because, to my knowledge, I have never abused a child, have no history of domestic violence, and have not been convicted of a crime that would make me a danger to Kingston. I also do not use illegal drugs or have an alcohol-related issue that would prevent me from safely caring for my child.
Because of the circumstances, I became concerned that the court might not have a complete understanding of what had occurred between Nicole and me or the efforts I had made to maintain a relationship with Kingston.
My attorney reassured me that we could work through the situation and get to the bottom of these issues. Unfortunately, because of the financial burden associated with continuing legal representation, I was eventually unable to continue paying the attorney and had to proceed without that legal assistance.
As of today, I am still not listed on Kingston’s birth certificate. I continue to pay child support, and I still have not been able to see Kingston.
I understand that there are parents who choose not to be involved in their children’s lives. I am not one of those people. I want to be involved. I want Kingston to know who I am, and I want the opportunity to be a father in his life.
I have made repeated efforts to communicate, seek legal assistance, contact the appropriate authorities, and find a way to maintain a relationship with Kingston. My intention has never been to create unnecessary conflict. My intention has always been to have a relationship with my son.
I am asking for the opportunity to be a consistent and positive presence in Kingston’s life. I want to participate in his upbringing, support him emotionally and financially, and be there for important moments in his childhood.
In conclusion, I am not asking for anything other than the opportunity to be a part of my son Kingston’s life. I love my son, I miss him, and I want the opportunity to build and maintain a healthy relationship with him. I hope that the circumstances can be addressed fairly and that Kingston’s best interests will remain the most important consideration.
Respectfully,
Jomo White
