Everyone knows that teachers do not teach for the money, but after 20 years of service this teacher is finding it hard to provide for himself & his daughter (whom he shares joint custody with his ex-wife).

Mr. Harvey is his name and he has made a big impact in hundreds of lives through the years. Having taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and currently 5th grade he brings excitement & real world issues into his classroom. Starting every day with a smile and breaking down barriers between caregivers and the school establishment, Mr. Harvey builds connections with all of his students.

Outside of class, he has worked 2-3 jobs his entire career to help buy school supplies, support himself and his family, and stay afloat. However, time has caught up with him. Stagnant wages, crippling student loan repayments (due to his loans being consolidated/repackaged/sold to other lenders they are ineligible for forgiveness), medical bills, and now emergency home repairs (a new roof, ceiling repairs, leaking window, etc which were all denied by his insurance company) are forcing him into selling his house (for an extremely low price due to all the repairs needed). Worse yet, this will force him into leaving teaching...a career that he feels uniquely called to do and which he loves. A career that he feels is the reason that he was put on this earth for.

Society recognizes the value of hard working, dynamic teachers even if the state legislators don't. Please contribute what you can to help Mr. Harvey provide a roof over his head (and his daughter's) as well as keep him in teaching. All fund will go toward emergency home repairs (totaling almost $15K, medical bills ($2K), car repairs ($1200) and toward catching up with his student loan repayments (thus enabling Mr. Harvey to continue to teach. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a community to support a teacher. Please help.
