On February 25th my 6 year old, Mikey was diagnosed with a brain tumor located on his pituitary and hypothalamus/thalamus area. We went to Denver/Aurora to Colorado children's hospital to start a plan on March 9th. At this appointment we discussed surgery options, how long it would be, and after surgery plans. His surgery was booked for April 8th, he had a 10hr 45 min long surgery that went well Most of the tumor was removed. Unfortunately sometime between his surgery ending and the following morning he suffered a mid brain stroke effecting his thalamus. Since this has happened life has been an absolute roller coaster, they thought he'd never wake up. He thankfully has proven him wrong however the damages from his stroke have left him disabled. He cannot open his eyes and we are unsure if he ever can if he will be able to see. He cannot speak, he cannot eat by mouth and had a g-tube placed 4-20. he has right sided weakness. And cannot walk on his own. He is going to have months to year long rehabs to get him to a more function life. His step dad is working as much as possible to keep life back home going for when we can return, and I have moved to Colorado without mikeys sisters to be here for him full time. This means i am not working. My girls are well taken care of by all of my family. I'm not the type to ask for money, but our social worker and financial counseling at the hospital have encouraged me to reach out for help with what I cannot change. Currently our bill is millions, I'm honestly just trying to get get help with the medical devices we will need once home. We are connected with Jason's friends, so our gas, food here is covered and they are helping with bills back home since I'm out of work.
