Amy spent 6 agonizing months enduring immunotherapy and chemotherapy to combat stage 4 stomach cancer. Her diagnosis was in January. In February she began the treatment. Initial results after a first round of treatment were promising. The tumor in her stomach had reduced in size, and the spots on her spine showed signs of scarring and repair.
Unfortunately, these treatments appeared to damage her liver and after checking into Riverside Methodist hospital on Friday July 19th, we learned she had developed an infection of her liver. This escalated quickly to sepsis and although her doctors and nurses fought vigorously to stabilize her, her body did not have the strength to combat the infection and she succumbed to the cancer on July 22nd.
Amy requested, in lieu of flowers for her funeral, those wishing to contribute do so to the children she fought so hard for every additional moment she could. The donations received will be placed into savings programs for her daughters Natalie and Leah.
Amy was a special soul. She would give any in need the help they requested, even if it was only her ear to listen. She was happy to start a conversation with complete strangers. She loved her Starbucks Chai Tea Latte. She was loved fiercly and will be dearly missed.
