Help Us Save Our Family’s Land and Our Children’s Future

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a desperate plea. We are in danger of losing our cherished family property – a place that holds not only our home but also the dreams and future of my children.

Our Story & What This Land Means to Us

For 30 years, this land has been more than just property. It’s where my children took their first steps, where we’ve celebrated countless family gatherings, and where we’ve built our lives and dreams. It’s a sanctuary, a place of peace, and the only home my children have ever known. It represents stability, security, and a legacy we hoped to pass on to them.

My name is Christine Zimmer Gromiller, and I’m starting this SpotFund because, after my divorce following 28 years of marriage, my husband left me for someone else. Even though I work as much as possible, I currently have no car and haven’t been able to pay my bills. Thank the good Lord for the local food bank!

My first lawyer cost me over $30,000. I’ve now had to retain another attorney to help me save my home, and I owe $15,000 in legal fees—although my ex is court-ordered to pay for this, he has, of course, not done so.

Please know that this fundraiser was never my first option. I’ve worked hard for years trying everything I could to resolve this on my own. But now, things are reaching a breaking point, and I have very little time left to save our home.

I’ve tried to get a loan through multiple banks, but they won’t approve based on equity alone—I would also have to qualify financially, and right now, I simply can’t. I’m so financially stretched trying to keep up with lawyer fees, basic bills, daily necessities, and gas just to get to work. At 55 years old, I’m facing the heartbreaking possibility of becoming homeless—with no money, along with my sons, my grandchild, and our beloved pets.

I sold two 5-acre parcels of land (one last year and one the year before) to contribute toward paying off my ex-husband’s $1 million debt. I was not on the document he was sued for by his father’s estate—I was not sued, I am not liable for his debt under Montana law, and I was indemnified from this debt in our divorce’s Property Settlement Agreement.

Despite all of this, I’ve been threatened with foreclosure on our home to satisfy my ex-husband’s judgment lien. The proceeds from the two land sales—around $300,000—went directly toward the lien. I did not receive any money from those sales. To make matters worse, I now owe $30,000 in capital gains taxes, putting me even further into debt.

Most recently, my ex’s father’s estate attempted to enforce the lien again. We managed to delay action for 5 months by offering up four more 5-acre parcels of land as partial payment for a debt my sons and I do not even owe. My ex is also required to give up his own 5-acre parcel.

This means my sons and I have five months to sell five 5-acre parcels to save our home. If we are unable to sell them all by September 13th, we’ll once again be at risk of losing the home where we built our life and raised our five sons.

If you’re interested in helping through a land purchase rather than a donation, I do have parcels available for private sale. Please reach out to me directly for more information. All proceeds from any land sales will go directly toward saving our home and covering legal and tax obligations.

If you prefer to donate, your support will go toward saving our cherished home and covering legal and tax obligations.

If we reach our goal of $800,000 by September 13th, we will be able to save our home and some of our land. I am deeply grateful for any size donation. If you give $100 or more, please include your phone number, email address, and mailing address in a text to me at (406) 902-9010 along with your donation receipt, so I can personally express my gratitude.

Thank You So Much for Your Donations — I Am So Very Grateful and Thankful. 🙏💕🙏
