A statement from her brother Hassan:
I never imagined I would have to write these words, but today, my family is desperate for help. My little sister, Wateen, is just four years old. She was born with a serious heart defect and needs open-heart surgery to add an extra valve—a procedure that should have happened before her fourth birthday. Because of the war, closed borders, and travel restrictions, she has never had the chance.
Now, every day is a race against time. Wateen’s skin has started turning blue—a terrifying sign that her tiny body is struggling to survive. We watch helplessly as her condition worsens, knowing that without urgent medical care, we could lose her.
Our pain doesn’t end there. My father is imprisoned in Ramallah, and we struggle to support him each week. The war has shattered our lives, leaving us unable to meet even our most basic needs. Every day is a battle just to keep going.
We are doing everything we can to protect Wateen and give her a chance at life. But we cannot do this alone. The fear of losing her is overwhelming, and time is running out.
