In April 2014, I adopted JJ at the age of 9 weeks. He's been my best friend and an emotional support animal ever since. Since he's getting older, it's not uncommon for dogs to get lipomas or fatty tumors. Usually, these are small and don't bother the dog. However, this particular one has grown exponentially over the course of a year.
After I went to the vet and had it tested, it was confirmed that it was a lipoma and nothing to worry about, and I was told to leave it alone.
It hasn't shrunk any; instead, it's grown larger. The only option is to operate, with the low end estimated at $2,000 and the high end closer to $4,000 due to the location and size. Only a specialist vet will consider the surgery.
He's only nine years old, and it's impacting his mobility, due to the area it's found on, it is putting more weight on the left side of his body. I need to get this lipoma removed so he can have a better quality of life.
Many thanks for any help you can give. I don't want to lose my best friend yet.
