The Scarbroughs are humble, hardworking people who would probably never express a need publicly. I want to honor their privacy while also being a voice for these dear friends we call family, because maybe it’s too hard to even know what the need is, when the focus is kicking cancer to the curb.
So friends- here is a need we can help with. They need a reliable vehicle— one that will fit their man-sized boys and Goliath dogs; one that will be comfortable for their long daily commute to the James for Scott’s cancer treatments. Chas currently drives a 1999 minivan, and it’s time to let ‘er go. Never high maintenance when it comes to vehicles, Chas and Scott buy used for cash, keep them going with some TLC and drive ‘em till they die. In this chapter, though, there is a need for a more recent model year with modern mechanicals and reliability. A Yukon would be perfect. (They’ve sized it- it fits!)
If you’ve met the Scarbrough’s, you’ve probably felt the love of Jesus. They are Spirit-filled people with hearts for others because of their heart for the Lord. Perhaps you’ve received a delicious meal, slammin’ dessert, some child-care, their cheers for your team at ball games or wrestling meets, or had them pray for or over you. Perhaps you’ve belly laughed at their humor or experienced their help in another way. Their friendships overlap many circles in and around Ohio, from Churches, to Recovery groups, to PTOs and Youth Sports, from horse farms, to sports fields, to their own neighborhood and local schools.
I’m reaching out all of you—- anyone who knows (or even doesn’t know!) the Scarbroughs— who can relate to the hardship of cancer, who feels compelled to give in a tangible way that will make a huge difference in the daily life of this family as they go from point a to b. I’m asking you to give to this need through prayer for healing and through the generosity of monetary donation if you are able, for a new-to-them vehicle and additional unexpected expenses that will undoubtedly arise while their main provider is in the trenches battling.
