When Lupus and Life Both Decide to Be Dramatic at the Same Time

Story:  Well -2025 decided to come in with plot twists

This year I was diagnosed with advanced lupus- which has been a journey in every sense of the word.   Lupus is a scale and I was diagnosed "off the chart" multiple organs and systems involved

There has been endless appointments, treatments, medications, and learning to navigate a body that sometimes has other plans.

As if that wasn't enough for one calendar year, I had two emergency eye surgeries (Yes, two, to save my vision.  (Apparently my eye wanted to commit to the drama.). They were unexpected and very expensive and absolutely necessary.   No guarantee of anything, and no guarantee of future outcomes and sight.

Through all of this, I am deeply grateful. I am grateful for my doctors for it has been the doctors who acted quickly, and for the vision I still have, for the roof over my head, and for the people who care about me.  I truly believe things could be worse- and I hold onto that perspective daily.

However, life has added a new twist: my landlord got an offer to sell the lovely old victorian where I live.  He is closing the end of February.  This means unexpected relocation and moving  costs on top of medical bills.

it is not easy to ask for help.  If you know me, you know I would prefer to handle things quietly, and independently.  But sometimes strength also means allowing other to support you.

The funds raised here will go toward

  • Outstanding surgery bills, lupus care and prevention of further tissue damage.  Much of my life is treating the symptoms and stabilizing the disease.
  • Relocation costs and stabilization during this period.
  • I am incredibly grateful to everyone and even your reading, and caring. I am staying hopeful, staying positive, and taking things one day at a time. I have so much more gratitude for seeing this beautiful world thann ever before.
