We are reaching out with a heartfelt request for your help in supporting a young, single mother who has experienced an unimaginable tragedy. For her safety, her identity is being kept anonymous, but if you know me, Audra Marsh, you can trust that this is a legitimate and urgent call for help!
This mother, a brave young woman who has already endured the trauma of domestic violence, was doing everything she could to protect her young child after escaping an abusive relationship. Tragically, her abuser intentionally caused a car accident, running into the vehicle she and her 18-month-old son were riding in. The child was immediately rushed to the hospital, unresponsive and and requiring breathing support for several hours. We were so excited when he woke up later that day, but he was still struggling to walk and speak normally. Despite his continued struggles, he was sent home. Just two days later, his mother was unable to wake him. His breathing was shallow, and despite all efforts, he passed away in the hospital a few hours later.
Now, this young mother is facing the unimaginable grief of losing her precious child at the hands of her abuser when she had done everything to protect her baby. In addition to the heart-wrenching trauma she just experienced, she is now burdened with the overwhelming financial responsibilities of funeral costs, all while trying to navigate her grief, a legal case and the need to take time off to heal. She has little support and is in a financial crisis, unable to take the time she desperately needs to mourn her child.
While no amount of money can bring back her child or fix the pain she is enduring, we hope to ease the financial strain and show her that she is not alone in this fight. Every dollar contributed will directly assist with funeral costs, allow her some time to grieve without the pressure of financial hardship, and offer a tangible sign of love and care from her community.
