Help Save This Local Landmark — Together We Can Make a Difference
Hi friends, neighbors, and supporters near and far,
I never imagined I’d be writing this, but here I am, humbly asking for help.
When I took over the former Toucan, a beloved staple in our community, I did it with heart and hope. I wasn’t just buying a business, I was investing in a place that held meaning for generations of locals. We rebranded as The Shoppe, but our mission stayed the same: to keep this space alive as a place of warmth, connection, and joy.
But it’s been far from easy.
Since day one, the challenges have been nonstop:
-
A broken water line that required emergency restoration
-
A full rebranding to breathe new life into the space
-
A new AC unit for the team in the kitchen
-
Ongoing Washington & Main Street construction disrupting business
-
And now, a retaining wall in critical need of repair
The retaining wall alone carries a remaining balance of $13,000, and on top of that, the fence installation needed to ensure safety will cost an additional $6,000.
That’s $19,000 we just don’t have and it’s why I’ve turned to GoFundMe.
This project has gone far beyond its original timeline and budget, and although I never planned to ask for financial help, the outpouring of encouragement and belief from the community gave me the courage to reach out.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will directly support these urgent safety upgrades.
If we’re blessed to raise more than our goal, 100% of any excess will be donated to St. Frances Cabrini Parish in West Bend. Their kindness and faith have helped carry me through these challenges, and I’d love nothing more than to give back. I can’t tithe what I don’t have, but with your help, we can make a real difference together.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us. God bless.
