Whether you know Greg from his Instagram page or you have had the pleasure of meeting him in person, you will likely agree that his most striking attribute – aside from his incredibly sweet and endearing nature – is his eyes. Like many Persian cats, however, Greg’s eyes have a unique structure that, while beautiful, can sometimes make them susceptible to corneal scratches and prolong wound healing.
Unfortunately, after many recurring vet visits over the past several months, Greg has been diagnosed with a corneal sequestrum in his right eye. A sequestrum is a part of the cornea that has died and turned brown, and is overall quite painful. We have been able to keep Greg’s symptoms at bay with eye drops and some pain medications, but the necessary treatment for this condition to prevent further discomfort - and, in many cases, blindness – is surgery.
Due to the highly specialized and complex nature of feline corneal surgery, the cost is $4,200.00. As some of you may know, Greg lost his beloved (human) mum to terminal brain cancer a few months back while awaiting his passage to Australia to be reunited with his Pop and baby sister. This costly expense, in addition to the numerous vet bills that have accumulated over the past several months, has put a significant financial strain on his Pop, a now single parent. We are asking for your help in contributing to this emergent medical cost so that Greg can see clearly – without pain - and be the affectionate, curious and unhindered cat he was meant to be. Any donation will help, no matter how small.
Your generosity is so greatly appreciated—thank you.
