Hi everyone,

This is really hard and honestly a little embarrassing for me to write, but I’m trying to find the courage to reach out and start this $2 challenge to help my family and let you into a bit of my life.

My name is Kenna, I’m 26 years old, and I’m the mom of an amazing little boy who will be turning 5 this September. We live out in Ki Sawyer, and right now we’re facing a really difficult financial situation.

Growing up, I never really had stability. I moved around a lot, lived in and out of different homes, and spent time in CPS care. My mom struggled with addiction, and I grew up surrounded by fear, instability, and trauma. For my own mental health, I had to make the painful choice to cut ties with her, which means I don’t have much family support. Because of all that, I learned how to survive on very little. I know what it’s like to stretch rice and beans for weeks and quietly struggle alone.

But as a mom, I’m doing everything I can to give my son the stability and love I never had. The reality is—it hasn’t been easy. I’ve done everything by myself since the day he was born: every birthday, every Christmas, every little milestone, with no help from family. And as proud as I am of that, lately I’ve been feeling defeated.

For months, I’ve been applying to jobs—spending 20+ hours each week on applications, phone interviews, in-person interviews (even spending money I didn’t have just to get there)—only to get told “we’re not interested.” I even went back to my old job, but the new company took over and let me go. Without a vehicle, relying on buses and expensive rides, it’s nearly impossible to stay consistent with work or even pursue my dream of getting my CNA so I can continue working with the veterans at Jacobetti—a job I truly love and find purpose in.

One of the biggest challenges we face right now is not having a reliable vehicle. Having one would be life-changing for us. It would mean:

Being able to work consistently without paying $20-$60 to and from jobs.

Taking my son to his doctor’s appointments—especially important since he’s had absent seizures in the past.

Buying groceries without worrying about rides.

Simply giving my son more stability and opportunities.

Our entire goal is $5,000 for a reasonably priced, road-safe vehicle. That’s all we’re hoping for—a chance at a reliable start. (It's just a goal)

Note: that we would gladly take a vehicle instead of the funds or do a payment plan with a contract and it being notarized! we are pretty desperate..& note this will be deleted once a vehicle is obtained.

I don’t ask for help often. In fact, it’s something I’ve always been scared to do because I feel like a burden. But I’ve reached the point where I just can’t do this alone anymore. I’m exhausted from trying to survive, and I’m asking from the bottom of my heart for a helping hand—not a handout, just a step forward for my family.

Even a dollar or two could help us get closer to something stable. I’ve always tried to help others, donating when I could, giving to people with less, and lending a hand when possible. Now, I’m hoping some good karma can finally circle back our way.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. It truly means more than I can explain. Any help, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.
