At just 29 years old, Ashley has been through more than most people face in a lifetime. In the past year alone, she has undergone 4 surgeries related to cancer and ongoing health complications. What started as emergency surgeries turned into a nonstop battle filled with pain, recovery, doctor visits, and heartbreaking uncertainty.
Recently, we received more difficult news — Ashley tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation. This gene greatly increases her risk for breast and ovarian cancer, and her doctors are now recommending a double mastectomy along with surgery to remove her ovaries. This means she is now facing 2 more major surgeries and even more recovery time ahead.
Because of constant medical appointments, testing, and treatments — often 2 or more doctor visits every week — Ashley is still unable to work. Between surgeries, hospital stays, medications, follow-up care, travel, and everyday living expenses, the financial stress has become overwhelming even with insurance.
We created this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden so Ashley can focus on healing and getting through these surgeries.
