I'm a quilter who wants to help the Portland VA hospital with a request. Currently, they are out of bereavement quilts and I have set an ambitious goal of creating 12 quilts.
I've calculated the costs and I have already begun crafting the first quilt. I'm asking for help so I can continue to quilt these for our beloved Veterans without needing to wait for more funds.
I will be purchasing the fabric as it goes on sale to stretch the money as far as possible.

It takes 5 yards minimum of fabric to complete a top for a 5x7 quilt. Fabric averages $7.00 to $9.00 a yard.
The batting, I have purchased half of them but still need six at approximately $19.00 for all six, not each.
The backing fabric, I will need 2 1/2 yards for each quilt. If I am to purchase on sale, this will help as it usually costs approximately 12.99 a yard at full price.
This project means a great deal to me, and I hope you will consider helping me to meet my goal. These bereavement quilts are given to Veterans in the last stage of life. It is a way to say thank you and show appreciation for those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
